Blood angels

These guys are just awaiting their matte varnish! Were supposed to be finished on Thursday/Friday but....still not bad turnaround considering they were purchased last week!

Dipped by hand!

Bloody battery for drill was dead (not good forward planning on my part!)

Now just need to get them based up in the next half hour before packing up and leaving for marple!

I'll spray on the matte varnish tomorrow evening

At auras London having another lovely shit that was preceded by a lovely lunch. W phoned me today asking about the height of door indicators.....wanted my side of the story, no doubt they are looking for a scapegoat again. Sure it is my fault (debs ail did say 1800) but it was a stupid idea and the whole farce should have been better managed from the start.

Ive left now, why can't w sort out the relatively simple problem without calling me?

White scars.....

Maybe next week I should get the remainder of the space marines battle force painted up as White scars?

The scout squad and five man tac squad would bring up ensure I have the mandatory two troops requirement (as my scout bikers do not actually count as troops with a captain on bike!!!!!!)

I might need a razorback to put the tac squad in though........no I don't must paint everything else on the shelf before buying more!

Maybe I should do the White scars, buy some black spray paint and move onto the Ogres?

Blood angels....charge is on!

Blood angels have been applied and now these boys are ready for the dip!

Rough painting and only basic colours but for the effort put in you get a bloody good table top quality army!

How do you like the red sanginuary guard and the grey feathered wings?!

Hope to get these guys dipped and based on Friday ready for Matt varnish on saturday (Tis a shame I'm in London tomorrow otherwise I could have them finished for Friday!)

Cpd

Well, as Sion had an emergency meeting this morning I have not been working on load paths....instead I have been working on ice stuff, mainly getting my head around cpd requirements and what I will have to for the review.

I am now looking on tipnestop for stuff on seismic design....possibly for my review sheet to be submitted to mw at the end of the month.

Blood angels expansion update

Base coat complete (rough and ready but hey, that's what dipping is about.....I think!) ready for decals tomorrow afterwork.

Unfortunately going to work in London on Thursday so I'll get no painting done Thursday night.....

However, I hope to have these babies dipped on Friday night...blast them with the hair dryer and then base the bastards. Quick blast of mayte varnish on Saturday morning and they will be done!

Yes this is two days behind schedule but it's still not bad....just got the rest of the shelf to get painted after the blood angels expansion is done!

In the shadow is an old school slain Mage priest!

'you have to know health and safety inside out.....not too bad for constants'

Made me think am I really capable of fulfilling all of those nine criteria? Can I really sit in front of the ice and convince them that I am a civil engineer?

On the plus point I started readin Alan sugars book today and it's really good!

Blood angels expansion progress

All models sprayed yesterday and 'blacked up' today....despite being in Liverpool for breakfast this morning, Warrington for a christening this afternoon (with two pints). Pretty good going.

Yes, a little rough and ready but these marines are for dipping and gaming....the krieg will be something special!

Now, I'm in Liverpool tomorrow so I won't get any painting done. On Tuesday after work I hope to get the rest of the basic colours done

Green weapons
Flesh
Yellow helmets
Silver weapons
Grey wings

Wednesday get them dipped, maybe even get them based so they will be ready to at with in Thursday!

Good article

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULFjccHRRZ4&feature=related

Kind of what i am doing with my blood angels, not the huge size / really right time schedule, but definitely being content with painting ability and ensuring everything isnt grey!

Rule number 1 of wargaming: armies must be painted to play!!!!!

Blood angels expansion progress

My plan didn't exactly come together with regards to getting these guys built and sprayed up.....mainly due to beers after work yesterday!

However, I got the rhino built this morning before leaving for Warrington and whilst in Warrington (still am) got the sanginuary guard built (they will be used as vanguard vets)! The whole lot have been base coated in the carport and now await being 'blacked out', along with the other basic colours and then dipped, based and varnished!

I would love to have these guys finished for next Friday
.

I will then have a good solid space marine army (painted up as blood angels but following a vanilla list) a little more balanced than my black Templars army.

Blood angels list will be something like:

Captain with jump pack
5 vanguard vets with jump packs
10 assault marines
10 tac marines in rhino
10 tac marines in rhino
1000 points

Maybe a bit light in the anti armour but at 1000 points I wouldn't expect to run into much heavy armour........

I think it might be time to admit that engineering may not be for me.....i take too long to learn things and my problemsolving skills leave much to be desired...on the flip side it pays to persevre!

Currently sat having a shit in london. Just had a lovely lunch of sainsburys spicy chicken pasta, crisps, cheese cake and coke. Not to sure what I'm going to do for the rest of the afternoon.....just 3 hours and 15 before I leave to get on the train! Meeting was interesting though..4 pages of notes!

Blood angels expansion

Tac marines and assault marines built tonight. I'll be home late from London tomorrow so no building then but on Friday we are having a lazy night at home. Soooooo on Friday I intend to build the rhino and the veteran vanguard marines (using
G the sanginuary guard!). On Saturday morning I want to get the them all spray painted up before leaving for the Manc suburb ( at 9:30)

Plastic crack, progress and sense of achievement

Today I had to pick up my laptop from the office ready for London tomorrow.....and I pooped into wargames emporium Sheffield.

I then continued to spend £56 on a space marine battleforce! This is on top of the £20.50 I spent on some blood angels sanginuary guard yesterday!!!!

The plan is to expand my blood angels patrol force with the tac squad, rhino and assault squad. This will use up the remainder of the army painter dragon red spray I have. As I have alot of White primer (and no black primer) the remaining five marines and scout squad will be painted up as White scars. This will ensure I have the mandatory two troops choices (my White scars captain doesn't make scout bikers troops!).

Anyways, spending £56 on a whim means that the models need to made...so tonight I have built 10 tac marines and 5 assault marines.

The plan is to use the following list for a 1000 point blood angels (vanilla codex) list

I am shying away from the lizardmen because I have s fully painted skaven army that I havnt used. Not doing Ogres as I don't have any black spray paint, but do have loads of white and red. Not doing deaths korps of krieg as I havn't yet finished the praetorians. I havnt finished (and have no intention of finishing) the praetorians as they are boring to paint!!! But look great when they are painted up.

I would love to get stuck into building and painting the death skullz orks but have a lack of black spraypaint (lame excuse I know!)

I also became a qualified first aider today.....sense of achievement is fairly high at the moment. Image change thing is not really moving anywhere!

Genuine laugh

Black Templars beaten.....

Had a 1000 point game against orks this afternoon at gw meadowhell. I got stopped into the ground. 2 x 30 mobs of shoots boyz killed many marines and scouts. The dreadnought did fuck all and the terminators were not used effectively. I lost the battle St deployment....I spread out along a thin line and gave the orks the shortest route to me. I should have bunched up, took out the ork bikers and then set to work on the boys. This would have denied the shoots boys atleast a round of shooting and they wod have had a long slog to actually get an assault on me!

Terminators should have been the anchour in the middle of the table with the marines, scouts and dreadnought for support.

And I saw this and thought it was good.........

Forget army painter

Use this stuff instead! This does not stink, dries in 20 mins (with a hair dryer) and is a damn site cheaper! Just make sure you thin it with some water!!!!!!

Please be mindful that I have never actually used army painter dip but....this stuff worked great for my Tyranids and blood angels and skaven!!!!

Update update update

Currently sat in my sofa realising that thee has been very little painting activity on my blog for a while! However over the course of the week I have read an entire book....Robert masons 'chickenhawk'. Beg steal or borrow a copy of this book!!!!!!

Anyway the point if this blog is to say that my sense of achievement is fairly average at the moment, image change has remained pretty unaffected (Ie image hasn't changed much!) and i am content with my painting progress.

The praetorians remain unfinished (but i am not too worried about this) I did not think I enjoyed painting them but the last set if mortars I painted where quite pleasant!

Still left to paint(in priority order):

Lizardmen
Ogre kingdoms
Death korps of krieg
Death skullz
Praetorians

I would like to get these projects complete before buying any more, each should be a fun project and each has it's own theme. It would also be good to have a game of warhammer fantasy battle game at some point....I have a 1000 points of skaven painted but idiot yet have the army book, so a bit difficult to take to my local gaming store.

Tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday I've got a first aid training course in rotherham.

Curry with l+s was good yesterday...I just ate it too quick and felt sick!

London office

Completed first day at London office, currently sat on the train waiting to go back to Sheffield. Office seems very 'busy' and hot design looks to be a bit of a bitch!

Lunch was very nice (simple sandwich but very good!)

Arup

I have now been working at arups for half a week. The staff seem really nice but I am completely unfamiliar with the work I am undertaking (feel a little useless at the moment). Getting the tram to work has been quite nice (though driving may work out cheaper!)

The days are certainly shorter and I have been able to get myself into an uninterrupted routine. A proper miserable bastard sits next to me tho, lots of huffing and puffing as if he has the world on his shoulders (still got time for a spinning class at lunch though!).....ass!

Currently reading ogre kingdoms army book with a view to painting up a 1000 points when the lizardmen are finished. Hope to do the skinks this weekend (in between roasting h)

Renegade guardsmen!!!

Painted these up today after a quick jaunt to meadowhell to pick up supplies.

Painted 'games workshop store' style i.e. Base coat (well watered) and then given a wash. Very simple, very quick. However, these are the first models that I have actively sort to mix paint colours. Normally I stay clear as it is very hard to recreate a mixed colour uniformly across a whole army.

I love the gas mask (with red eyes), converted lasgun and crude grungy colour scheme!

Any opinions out there?

58th praetorian engineers defend Glazers creek

It has took me about 13 years to get this little dream complete!!!!

I think I will be leaving it set up on my desk for a long time yet! It is highly unlikely I will ever be able to play the battle for Glazers creek...but who cares! The important thing is that I always wanted the praetorians and after such a long time they are set up in my study!!! With an ork horde over looking them from a shelf. Hopefully the same determination will help me get the Aston Martin I have always wanted!!!

Painted barrels

Glazers creek.....now with orange barrels!!!

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Glazers creek!!!!

Glazers creek is complete!!!!

Now time for a shower, lunch and then some speed painted and dipped genestealers!!!!

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Praetorian mortars

Enough said really.....I have finally painted enough orks and praetorians to refight the glazer creek battle report that featured in White dwarf 222.

Neither project is finished, the orks still need snagging and the praetorians still have a platoon command squad, company command squad, Lascannon battery and veteran squad still to be painted!

No I have a dilemma.....do I paint the glazer creek terrain pieces or do I carry on and complete the genestealers?!
